Venice is a city located in Sarasota County just south of Nokomis and north of Englewood. In 2015, Venice was named in Coastal Living as one of the “Happiest seaside towns in America”. In its early days, Venice was a fishing and farming community but has since blossomed into a vacation destination where people can play in the surf, hunt for fossilized shark teeth and beautiful sea shells, fish at the Venice Pier, and bike the Venetian Waterway Trail. Venice has 14 miles of fabulous beaches that go all the way from Casey Key to Manasota Key. Venice Island, the downtown district, is accessed by several bridges that go over a man-made Intracoastal Waterway and offers a charming Main Street with abundant shopping and outdoor dining.
Much of the real estate growth for Sarasota County is heading south towards Venice and the surrounding areas. There are numerous gated residential communities, golf course communities, condominium communities, townhomes, villas, and deed and non-deed restricted neighborhoods. Venice offers a comfortable lifestyle at a little slower pace, yet is close to Sarasota downtown if you want the action.
